According to Maria Zakharova, Russia assumes that the best way to solve all security issues in the border regions is a direct dialogue between the Turkish and Syrian authorities

MOSCOW, November 24. /TASS/. Russia believes that Turkey’s ground operation on Syrian territory would lead to tension in the region, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing Thursday.

"We maintain close contacts with the Turkish side on the Syrian issue," she said, "We understand Turkey's concerns about threats to its national security, but at the same time we believe that a ground operation on Syrian territory will only escalate tensions in the region and lead to an increase in terrorist activity."

According to Zakharova, Russia assumes that the best way to solve all security issues in the border regions is a direct dialogue between the Turkish and Syrian authorities.
