Democrats blame Russia to justify their coming defeat in US midterms, says speaker

On Sunday, the New York Times published the opinions of a number of US experts who revealed that Russia had allegedly attempted to influence the results of Tuesday's upcoming US congressional elections

MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. The resurrected echo chamber about Russia's alleged attempts to influence the results of the US midterm elections show that members of the US Democratic Party want to absolve themselves of their coming defeat in the midterm elections, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on his Telegram channel on Monday.

"The new accusations are an attempt by US Democrats to justify their defeat in the midterm elections, which will be held tomorrow," Volodin said.

On Sunday, the New York Times published the opinions of a number of US experts who revealed that Russia had allegedly attempted to influence the results of Tuesday's upcoming US congressional elections. It noted that several social media accounts, which had been inactive for some time, had once again begun publishing reports about the weakness of the Democratic Party's position, as well as pointing out the inexpediency of spending American taxpayer money to prop up the Kiev regime.

"We hold that meddling in the internal affairs of sovereign states is unacceptable, this is an integral part of our nation’s policy. We do not meddle and we will not allow it with regards to us," Volodin pointed out. He noted that such publications only show that "the US Democrats have begun to make excuses for their defeat." "Things are bad for [US President Joe] Biden. The current leadership in Washington is holding on to power as much as it can," Volodin said. According to him, the Democrats have "picked up where they left off," once again accusing Russia of interfering in the elections. "We saw the same thing back in 2016 when [Donald] Trump became president of the United States. [This is] nothing new," Volodin pointed out.

The Duma speaker added that Biden "and his party comrades are likely to lose majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives." "The American people don't vote for Democrats due to the problems they created themselves. This is what first needs to be questioned," Volodin stressed.
