Network of biolabs developing bioweapons created around Russia — Kremlin spokesman

Dmitry Peskov dubbed the issue of biolabs as "that of paramount importance"

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. Moscow has information that a network of biological laboratories, which develop projects on new types of bioweapons, has been set up around Russia, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a televised interview with Belarus-24 channel on Saturday.

"We have now information that, in fact, under this program funded by the Pentagon, a whole network of bio laboratories has been created around us, around Russia, and around Belarus as well. [The network] works not only on highly dangerous pathogens, microbes and viruses, but also on projects to develop new types of weapons, of biological weapons that target certain ethnic groups," Peskov said.

"It is a terrible, potentially really terrible weapon," he stressed.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, the Russian Defense Ministry has recently published "two chunks of data" on biolabs, which had been also obtained during the Russian special operation in Ukraine, and the information is still being processed.

"We hope that the truth will be made public in small batches, and we will learn more and more, while Washington will realize better and better that we know almost everything about these plans, which do pose a threat to the whole world, especially since this circumvents all the current international conventions," he said.

Peskov dubbed the issue of biolabs as "that of paramount importance."

"It is an issue which Americans are trying now to divert attention from, to juggle facts and so on, to lead the talk to some insignificant topics, but the facts speak for themselves. And not only we are concerned about these facts, but very many other countries are also concerned about them," the spokesman said.
