FSB nabs member of terrorist neo-Nazi cell in Crimea for plotting to set mosque on fire

According to the report, the attacker kept in touch with the leader of a terrorist cell from Ukraine

SIMFEROPOL, March 28. /TASS/. A supporter of a terrorist neo-Nazi organization has been apprehended in the Republic of Crimea for plotting to set a mosque on fire on orders from Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) and committing other attacks, the regional department of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) reported.

"An 18-year-old resident of the Republic of Crimea involved in attacking civilians, damaging their property, and committing arson and vandalism involving extremist symbols has been detained," the FSB said in a statement.

Among other things, the suspect kept in touch with the leader of a terrorist cell from Ukraine who tasked him with setting a mosque on fire for a $1,000 payment, the FSB specified.

Officers from the Crimean Interior Ministry’s center for combating extremism and regional FSB officers determined that the suspect had taken part in "blatant attacks" and also used caches to pass Molotov cocktails and other items for conducting attacks to locals for payment in cryptocurrencies transferred by his curators from the SBU.

A criminal probe has been launched. Investigators are working to see if the young man might have been involved in other offenses.
