One person killed in car crash near Russia’s embassy in Iran

Neither Russian citizens nor diplomats were injured in the crash, according to the diplomatic mission

MOSCOW, July 5. /TASS/. The driver of a concrete mixer truck that crashed into the wall of the Russian Embassy in Iran died, the Mehr agency informed on Friday.

The agency claims that emergency services arrived at the scene within minutes of the crash. Five people were injured. Their nationality has not been established yet. The causes of the crash are currently under investigation.

"At 4:40am local time (03:10 Moscow time), a concrete mixer truck crashed into the wall of the Russian ambassador’s summer residence in Zargandeh (Tehran)," the embassy informed. "By preliminary estimate, the crash was caused by failure of the brakes of the truck loaded with over 9 tonnes of cargo. The driver, a 36-year-old Iranian citizen, died in the crash, never regaining consciousness."

The embassy noted that neither Russian citizens nor diplomats had been injured. There is no threat to the security of the embassy building. Damage caused to the property is currently being evaluated.
