Rostov nuclear power plant third unit starts producing electricity

ROSTOV ON DON, December 27. /TASS/. The third unit of the Rostov nuclear power plant was connected to Russia's power grid and started to produce electricity, the state-owned company, Rosenergoatom, told TASS on Saturday.

“The third unit of the Rostov nuclear power plant has started generating power for the Unified Energy System of Russia. For now on it is becoming an energy facility,” the company said.

“The unit’s reactor is operating at 30% of its capacity,” it said.

The third unit is put into operation several months before the scheduled date, the company said.

The Rostov nuclear power plant is Russia’s southernmost nuclear power plant and one of the largest energy companies in the south of the country. It is located near the city of Volgodonsk. Two units with the total capacity of 2000 MWt operate at the plant.
