MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. The risk of an incident occurring at the Kursk nuclear power station has been reduced thanks to Russia’s successful offensive at the border area, but it is not zero, said Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev.

"The risks are decreasing, but they are still there. One of the statements of the Ukrainian leadership recently was that they would continue to attack the territory of the Kursk Region," he said.

"Of course, there are no plans to reduce the level of protection and safety at the Kursk station. This applies equally to the current facility, the current Kursk station, and the Kursk construction site. But despite all these difficulties and challenges, we continue to move towards the physical launch of the Kursk station. I really hope that this event, this most important event for the Russian nuclear power industry and for the world, will take place as scheduled."
