MOSCOW, March 14 /TASS/. Rosatom is considering several options for the layout of new nuclear capacity in Belarus, the state corporation's communications department told TASS.

"The construction of a new nuclear capacity in Belarus is being worked out. We are considering several layout options," a Rosatom representative said.

On March 14, speaking in the Federation Council, the upper house of the Russian parliament, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus had asked Russia to build a second NPP in the republic. According to him, this topic was discussed at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin. Lukashenko also noted that Belarus now has specialists who are capable of building a NPP themselves, except for the reactor and turbines.
