Russia to be selective with companies who want to set up shop in Russia — First Deputy PM

"Today, in the key industries crucial for our technological sovereignty, absolute priority is given to domestic manufacturers as well as those from the Eurasian Economic Union," the official noted

MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. Russia won’t let just any company set up shop in the country should sanctions be lifted, only those it deems desirable, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov told reporters.

"We will clear for our market the ones of interest for ourselves," Manturov said. "Over the period during which sanctions packages were introduced one after another, our system of preferences in public procurement and support measures has significantly evolved. Today, in the key industries crucial for our technological sovereignty, absolute priority is given to domestic manufacturers as well as those from the Eurasian Economic Union," the official noted.

For joint projects with foreign companies, conditions have been established regarding localization, technology transfer, and Russian oversight of projects. "We will not deviate from these principles, and foreign companies will have to take this reality into account," Manturov stressed.
