Russia expands its simplified visa regime to boost trade with China — PM

"All our citizens participating in international road transportation to China will be able to apply for a multiple-entry visa for one year regardless of their place of residence," Mikhail Mishustin said

MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. All Russians involved in international road haulage to China will be able to obtain a multiple-entry visa for one year, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a government meeting.

Previously, the simplified visa regime was available only for drivers, transportation crew members, forwarders and interpreters from borderline regions of both Russia and China.

"We will broaden the simplified visa regime to a larger group of Russian and Chinese individuals," Mishustin said. "All our citizens participating in international road transportation to China will be able to apply for a multiple-entry visa for one year regardless of their place of residence. The duration of each stay should not exceed 30 days," he specified.

For this purpose, the Russian government will approve the protocol to the Russia-China agreement on easing road transportation between the countries.

The volume of bilateral cargo transportation with China is steadily growing, remaining the subject of interest of traders from almost all Russian regions, Mishustin noted, adding that transport companies from Central Russia and the Urals are stepping up their activities in this area.

"This decision will strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation between Russian and Chinese entrepreneurs and help them reduce both delivery costs and the time of receiving goods," the prime minister concluded.
