Russian engineers develop advanced snow plow for runway clearing

The machine is fitted with modern control systems and adaptive plowing mechanisms, the plant said

CHELYABINSK, February 13. /TASS/. Industrial engineers in Russia’s Chelyabinsk Region have successfully tested an innovative dual-engine rotary snow plow designed for clearing airfields, the regional industry ministry told TASS.

"The Miass-based Spetsagregat plant and the Kurchatov International Airport of Chelyabinsk tested the cutting-edge high-speed snow remover. The innovative twin-engine milling rotary snow plow, which has no analogue in Russia, was highly effective in clearing runways, both in speed and quality," a spokesperson said.

The machine is fitted with modern control systems and adaptive plowing mechanisms, the plant said. The snow remover based on the Ural-6370 vehicle has a twin-engine layout, where a 400 HP engine is responsible for moving the vehicle, while the other, a 530 HP engine, runs the snow removal equipment. This design allows the vehicle to run through a maximum capacity of 5,000 metric tons of snow per hour and enables operations together with other airfield snow removal equipment, the plant added.
