Iran-EAEU free trade agreement to be implemented this year — envoy

"After the agreement is ratified and implemented 87% of all goods within our trade will be exempt from duties and levies, which will be a great step forward in the trade area," Kazem Jalali noted

MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. The agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) on a free trade zone will be implemented in 2025, after which 87% of all goods will be tax exempt, Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali told reporters.

"Cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union is one of the most important areas of interaction between Iran and Russia. In 2024, a major step was taken within the Eurasian Economic Union. In April [2024], Iran became an observer at the Eurasian Economic Union," he said. "Iran’s representative has been working since first days of 2025. The free trade agreement between Iran and EAEU was ratified by parliaments of all member states, and the agreement will be implemented in 2025," the diplomat added.

"After the agreement is ratified and implemented 87% of all goods within our trade will be exempt from duties and levies, which will be a great step forward in the trade area," he noted.

Cooperation between Iran and Russia within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is also positive, the ambassador said. "We have certain plans for this year, which we will promote," he added.
