IGORA /Leningrad Region /, December 26. /TASS/. Cuba is ready for further more active involvement in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) mechanisms for deeper integration with the association, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said, speaking at the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting via video conference.
"In the year of this most important organization’s tenth anniversary, I would like to once again reaffirm Cuba’s adherence to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states," Diaz-Canel said.
He thanked the association of the invitation and noted that the participation in such events has become a usual event for Cuba.
"As an observer state, we once again state our readiness for further and more active involvement in the Union’s mechanisms for deeper integration," he said.
The Cuban president stated his certainty that the fourth meeting of the joint commission on Cuba and the Eurasian Economic commission, scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2025 in Moscow, "will contribute to the strengthening and diversification of relations with the Union, oriented on achievement of specific results that will be beneficial for all."
"In the context of the current complicated international situation and the situation that our country experiences due to the expenses, caused by the meteorological and natural phenomena, as well as the difficulties in energy and fuel supply, caused by the unprecedented tightening of the US trade and economic blockade, Cuba continues to advocate cooperation, solidarity and integration between countries," Diaz-Canel underscored.
The president stated that the EAEU countries can count on a "small, but unwavering support from Cuba as an observer state."
"Our people remain optimistic, resilient and full of creative ideas," Diaz-Canel noted. "We are certain that, despite the challenges that we face, 2025 will become productive for achievement of our common goals, aimed at achievement of sustainable development."
He also wished success to Belarus, which will chair the EAEU in 2025.
