Nenets Autonomous Region expands Arctic Hectare Program

The Nenets Autonomous Region joined the program on August 1, 2021 along with other Arctic regions

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. The Arctic Hectare Program is expanded in the Nenets Autonomous Region and land plots are now available in the region's second largest settlement - Iskateley, Governor Yury Bezdudny wrote on Telegram.

"We are expanding the Arctic Hectare Program's geography," he wrote. "Applications now may be filed for a plot for housing construction in the village of Iskateley."

The Nenets Autonomous Region joined the program on August 1, 2021 along with other Arctic regions. The local authorities have received so far 112 applications, mostly from the locals. Applicants from outside the region come from Komi, Moscow, Oryol and Arkhangelsk. The region has formalized 70 free rental agreements for 55 hectares.

In compliance with recommendations from Russia's Ministry for Development of the Far East and Arctic, from the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, and the regional legislators, the region has allocated additionally 39 land plots of the total area of 3.7 hectares.
