MOSCOW, March 13. /TASS/. Inflation in Russia stayed at a zero level from March 5 to 11, 2024, the Russian federal statistical service said.
Consumer prices in the country ticked up by 0.05% from early March and by 1.6% year to date.
Inflation stood at 7.72% in annual terms as at March 11, 2024.
In the food segment, prices gained 0.5% for beef, mutton and granulated sugar, 0.3% for sterilized milk, margarine, cheese, cookies and vermicelli, and 0.2% for sausages, frankfurters, cooked sausages, frozen fish, butter, pasteurized milk, cottage cheese, rice, and vodka. Prices also ticked up for beet (+2.2%), tomatoes (+1.8%), carrots (+1.3%), white cabbage (+1%), and apples (+0.4%).
Prices at the same time declined by 0.7% for chicken eggs, by 0.3% for buckwheat and canned fruit and berries for infants, and by 0.2% for canned vegetables for infants.
In the essential goods segment, prices edged up by 0.5% for toilet paper and 0.2% for toothbrushes and diapers. Among the other nonfoods, the rise in prices was 0.6% for chipboards and oriented stranded boards, and 0.3% for edged boards. Prices lost 1.7% for domestic cars, 0.8% for smartphones, and 0.5% for TV sets.
