MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. Russia will invest $4.9 mln in the drought control project in Cuba and fisheries development projects in Ethiopia and Guinea, the press service of the Federal Agency for Water Resources told TASS on Thursday.
"The project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) - Adaptation to drought: strengthening of sustainable planning and water resources management in Santiago de Cuba; the budget of $1 mln. The project goal is to enhance the potential of the local population in drought prevention and control. Key activities are area preparation, transfer and installation of equipment supporting water supply, staff training and research base updating," the press service said.
Russia will also invest $1.6 mln in another project of aquaculture support in central areas of Guinea. The project goal is to develop the fisheries sector through support of the national aquaculture agency of Guinea and 35 fishing estates.
The third project amounting to $2.3 mln will be implemented down the line of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Ethiopia. The plan is to establish a fisheries and aquaculture development center.
