Bulgaria ready to receive additional volumes of gas from Azerbaijan — President

Radev recalled that on February 1, the construction of an interconnector between Bulgaria and Serbia began

BAKU, March 11. /TASS/. Bulgaria is ready to receive additional volumes of Azerbaijani gas, Bulgarian President Ruman Radev said on Saturday at meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev. The meeting was held in a videoconference mode.

"From the first day of the commissioning of the interconnector between Greece and Bulgaria (October 1, 2022), everything has been functioning perfectly and without any problems. We are glad that we receive gas from Azerbaijan. You know that we are ready to go further. You know our Ring of Solidarity initiative (makes it possible to transfer additional volumes of natural gas to Europe from the Southern Gas Corridor using the existing gas transportation infrastructure - TASS). But, of course, the main point is Azerbaijan. We are ready to transport additional volumes of Azerbaijani gas by combining opportunities and efforts of gas transmission operators in Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia. Now the decision is yours," the Bulgarian President said as quoted on the website of the head of the Azerbaijani state.

Radev recalled that on February 1, the construction of an interconnector between Bulgaria and Serbia began.

"Thus, opportunities are growing every month. We are pleased to work with you as a strategic partner and ally in this very important area, ensuring diversification, security of supply," he added.
