New car sales in Russia down 62.8% in October, says AEB

It is reported that Avtovaz was the leading brand in terms of sales in October

MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. Sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in Russia fell by 62.8% in October 2022 year-on-year to 45,228 units, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said in a statement on Monday.

"In October 2022, sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia decreased by 62.8% compared to October 2021 or by 76,481 sold units and amounted to 45,228 cars," the statement said.

From January-October 2022 a total of 502,474 new cars were sold in Russia, down by 60.8% compared with the same period last year.

Avtovaz sales lost 25% last month to 19,145 units, and 51% in the January-October period to 142,910 units. Avtovaz was the leading brand in terms of sales in October, according to the AEB.

Second was China’s auto manufacturer Haval, which sold 4,426 cars in Russia in October (down by 8%), and 24,471 units from January-October (down by 18%).

GAZ Group was the third most-popular car brand in Russia in the reporting period, with sales totaling 3,912 units in October (down by 33%), and 29,308 cars in the first nine months of this year (down by 34%).

Kia and UAZ were also among the top five best-selling brands in Russia.
