Hainan launches online platform to promote Xinlong coffee brand

Xinglong coffee is one of China's oldest brands which stood the test of time

HAIKOU, March 1. /TASS/. China's Hainan launched its first online platform for promoting the island's coffee. According to www.hinews.cn, the customers will get a chance to learn more about the Hainan coffee in online series.

The first program, which are available on Douyin (video mobile app in China), was hosted by Zhang Yuyen, a consultant at the Xinlong Coffee Association, where the product is grown. The expert spoke about the history of the drink, about its origins and a new coffee variety with a unique flavour different from other analogues in the world.

“Hainan coffee's advantage is a successful combination of purity of taste and aroma,” the specialist explained. He recalled that Xinglong coffee is one of China's oldest brands which stood the test of time.

According to Zhang Yuen, the island has its own way of processing coffee beans. Earlier, some foreign experts expressed their intention to promote the Hainan coffee in Latin America. According to experts, its specificity special features depend on strictly regulated manufacturing processes, international experience and the preferences of the Chinese consumer. Since 1994, manufacturers on the Island of Hainan have developed 23 relevant standards.

Twenty years ago, the coffee industry on the island was considered rather backward, the product did not always get the desired quality as production standards were not thorough enough - thus, the Hainan coffee was less competitive on foreign markets, and the industry developed at a slower pace. However, due to the efforts made by scientists, it became possible to clarify production standard, inmpove the plants' capacity; the customers' preferences were taken into account, all measures eventually leading to a boost in coffee production.

Hainan coffee is also called "Xinglong" (according to the geographical name —TASS). It has been growing actively on the island since 1953. The coffee was brought from abroad by Chinese compatriots who migrated abroad. To date, this type is considered one of the most sophisticated in Asia, and to maintain the process of its innovative production, as well as the protection of the rights of the manufacturer, 13 “coffee” licenses have been registered.
