Belarus, Russia sign protocol on compensations for off-spec oil

The Russian side is ready to compensate for supplies of contaminated oil

MINSK, February 25. /TASS/. Belarus and Russia signed a protocol providing compensations for supplies of contaminated oil over the Druzhba oil pipeline, deputy head of Belneftekhim holding Vladimir Sizov told reporters on Tuesday.

"The protocol was signed that the Russian side is ready to compensate," Sizov said.

"The case in point is the sum by analogy to other parties involved in this story with the "contaminated" oil - these are counterparties in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary," the top manager said. "It has become known from public sources that they received a compensation amounting to $15 per barrel of supplied oil with higher content of organochloride compounds," Sizov said.

In mid-April 2019, the Belarusian concern Belneftekhim reported a sharp deterioration in the quality of the Russian oil running through the Druzhba pipeline, which supplies oil to Belarusian refineries and provides its transit to Europe via Belarus, Poland and Ukraine. Oil transit and refining were suspended and later restored. Oil supplies resumed in full scope from July 1 of the last year.
