Maritime Security Belt 2025 international drills kick off in Iran’s Chabahar

The drills involve warships of the Russian, Iranian, and Chinese Navies

MOSCOW, March 9. /TASS/. The joint Maritime Security Belt 2025 exercises involving Russian, Iranian, and Chinese warships have kicked off in the port of Chabahar in Iran, the Russian defense ministry said.

"The opening ceremony of the international Maritime Security Belt 2025 exercise was held at the port of Chabahar in Iran. The drills involve warships of the Russian, Iranian, and Chinese Navies. The Russian side is represented by the Rezky and Russian Hero Aldar sydenzhapov corvettes, and the Pechenega tanker of the Pacific Fleet," it said.

According to the ministry, over several days of the exercise in the northern part of the Indian Ocean, the crews will drill the skills of freeing seized ships, search and rescue operations at sea, and will hold artillery shooting at sea-based and aerial targets.

 

The international naval maneuvers Maritime Security Belt, organized by the Iranian side, will be held for the seventh time. They ran for the first time in the waters of the Arabian Sea in the Indian Ocean in 2018. This year, the joint naval maneuvers involve 15 combat ships, support vessels and gunboats, as well as helicopters.
