US renames its military-biological program in Ukraine — Russian defense ministry

According to Igor Kirillov, the program has been reclassified as a "biosurveillance research program," under which the US intends to continue to study pathogens, collect bio material and send it to the United States

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. The United States has renamed its military-biological program in Ukraine to hide the actual nature of its activities, Chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov said on Friday.

"The facts about the Pentagon’s military-biological activities that were made public by the Russian defense ministry have forced Washington into action to conceal the real nature of its activities. Thus, they have decided to rename the program called ‘joint biological research,’ which is actually aimed at developing biological weapons components," he told a briefing dedicated to the analysis of documents related to the United States’ military-biological activities.

According to Kirillov, the program has been reclassified as a "biosurveillance research program," under which the US intends to continue to study pathogens, collect bio material and send it to the United States.

He stressed that the US plans to continue such research at biological facilities in Ukraine and in other countries because of the passive reaction of the world community, which is afraid of possible standoff with the United States.
