Putin links strengthened terrorist threat for Russia to Kiev’s, West’s actions

"It is necessary to efficiently respond to all those challenges," the Russian leader stressed

MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has noted the strengthening of terrorist threat for Russia, which is connected with actions by Kiev and by the West.

"The task of countering terrorist threat is still relevant. The number of such crimes rose over the past year," he said at a meeting of top officials of the Federal Security Service (FSB) on Tuesday. "This is obviously connected with the attempts by the Kiev regime to use terrorist methods," Putin added.

The president also linked the strengthened terrorist threat to "the West’s strive to revive the units of extremists and terrorists, their so-called old friends" on Russian soil.

"We are aware of the fact that they have never been above using both radicals and extremists to their advantage despite all those loud announcements on tackling international terrorism," he noted.

"It is necessary to efficiently respond to all those challenges," Putin stressed.
