According to Zelensky, bilateral relations between Ukraine and Turkey, and the situation in Europe and the Middle East were also discussed

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. Vladimir Zelensky said that during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul he agreed on new steps in security cooperation.

"We agreed on new steps in cooperation in the security sphere. This primarily concerns areas where we can support Turkey: expertise, technologies and experience. There is a fundamental political readiness to work together, and our teams will finalize the details in the coming days. We discussed practical steps to implement joint projects in gas infrastructure construction, as well as the possibility of jointly developing gas fields," Zelensky said in his video address.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between Ukraine and Turkey, as well as the situation in Europe and the Middle East, were also discussed, he said.

According to diplomatic sources, the talks held at the Dolmabahce presidential office on the Bosphorus lasted about two hours. After the talks with Erdogan, Zelensky went to meet Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at his residence in the Balat district.

Zelensky arrived in Istanbul on Saturday after a telephone conversation between Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday. The Russian leader expressed gratitude to his Turkish counterpart for his continued readiness to facilitate the relevant negotiation process. Last year, three rounds of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations were held in Istanbul.
