MINSK, April 1. /TASS/. Belarus plans to deport to Lithuania a US national for illegally entering the country, the Belarusian State Border Committee said.
According to the agency, the US national was detained by customs officers at the Molodechno railway station in the wee hours of March 31. Border service authorities opened administrative proceedings against the offender for illegal crossing of the state border.
"After subjecting the offender to administrative penalties, he will be deported to the territory of the Republic of Lithuania," the agency said on Telegram.
The same man had attempted to enter Belarus twice on March 24, but was turned back as he couldn’t prove he had enough money to pay for staying in the country and buy a return ticket, according to the border committee. He used the border crossings Kamenny Log-Medininkai and Byenyakoni-Salcininkai.
Earlier, the State Border Guard Service of the Lithuanian Interior Ministry said the man detained in Belarus had no connection to the accident with an M88 Hercules armored recovery vehicle in Lithuania that happened during the exercises of US troops.
