Suspension of US aid to Ukraine to primarily hit air defense, HIMARS — MP

Alexey Goncharenko added that he had received comments expressing concerns about air defense

MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army will primarily face shortages of missiles for its air defense systems and shells for HIMARS multiple rocket launchers due to the suspension of US aid, according to Verkhovna Rada member Alexey Goncharenko (listed by Russia as a terrorist and extremist).

"First of all, the suspension of aid from the United States may impact missiles for air defense, as well as ammunition for HIMARS and artillery," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, a day earlier, Vadim Skibitsky, deputy head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, stated that Ukraine's air defense system was under significant strain. According to him, the Russian Armed Forces are "bypassing all air defense measures."

Goncharenko added that he had received comments expressing concerns about air defense. "Unfortunately, your concerns were justified," he concluded. Earlier, the MP called the suspension of aid a catastrophe and urged Vladimir Zelensky to apologize to US President Donald Trump.

On February 28, Zelensky visited the White House for a meeting with Trump. Their televised exchange, with reporters present, descended into a shouting match, with Trump reprimanding Zelensky for being disrespectful to the US, and Vice President JD Vance noting that Zelensky had not ever said a "thank you" for all the support provided to Kiev. A news conference scheduled to follow the meeting was canceled, and Trump posted a statement on the Truth Social media platform saying that Zelensky was disrespectful and not ready for peace.

On March 3, Reuters, citing a White House official, reported that Trump had instructed to suspend all deliveries of military aid to Kiev. Later, a Pentagon spokesman confirmed this information to TASS.
