CAIRO, November 26. /TASS/. At least 15 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air strike that targeted a school in the Zeitoun district south of Gaza City, Al Jazeera reported.
Dozens received injuries of varying degrees.
According to the report, the attacked building had earlier been turned into a shelter for internally displaced persons.
In a statement posted on its Telegram channel, Palestine’s HAMAS movement described the attack as a yet another episode in the "exterminatory war against the Palestinian people," accusing Israel of "blatant disregard" for norms of the international humanitarian law. HAMAS once again urged the international community "to immediately take measures, and stop the ongoing genocide" in Gaza.
Tensions erupted again in the Middle East on October 7, 2023, after militants from the Gaza Strip-based Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise attack into Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting hundreds of Israelis. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and initiated bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria, as well as a ground operation against Hamas in the Palestinian enclave.
