TASS, January 11. The Iranian Navy has confirmed that it has seized an oil tanker in the waters of the Gulf of Oman on the basis of a court order, the Tasnim news agency reported.
According to it, the seized ship is affiliated with the US.
Earlier, the Greek Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy reported the seizure of the tanker St Nikolas, linked to the Greek shipping company Empire Navigation, whose crew includes a Greek captain and 18 Filipino sailors.
In the past, the tanker was used to transport internationally sanctioned Iranian oil before being "seized by the United States in a sanctions enforcement operation," according to the Greek newspaper Efimerida ton Syntakton.
