Slovakia wants to extend Russian oil carve-out from EU sanctions — Foreign Minister

If Brussels does not meet Bratislava halfway, this will have a big impact on the national economy, Juraj Blanar noted

BRATISLAVA, December 5. /TASS/. Slovakia, with the Slovnaft Refinery depending on Russian oil supplies on its territory, is seeking to extend the exemption for oil from EU sanctions for another year, Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar said in an interview with the standard.sk news portal.

"We endeavor to extend the exemption [for Russian oil supplies] for Slovnaft for one year," the minister said. "We are talking about products [refined by Slovnaft from Russian oil] for us, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine," he noted.

If Brussels does not meet Bratislava halfway, this will have a big impact on the national economy, Blanar continued. The country will be threatened by huge inflation.
