Zelensky’s popularity rating to collapse should hostilities cease — former aide

Alexey Arestovich noted that one problem that may emerge in Ukraine in the future is the need to change the structure of the country’s economy due to its broken relations with Russia

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s popularity rating will collapse if the hostilities in the country cease, former top Zelensky aide Alexey Arestovich said in an interview published on YouTube.

In response to a question from Ukrainian reporter Vasily Golovanov as to what consequences Zelensky might face for the economic and social problems in the country once the Ukrainian conflict ends, Arestovich said: "A variety. Beginning with the president’s rating going to zero within the first two months and he won’t be the frontrunner for a second term anymore, nor a force represented in parliament in any way. He will be blamed for everything."

"In my opinion, economic policy is the weakest aspect of the Zelensky administration. I don’t know what the people in charge of economic policy here are telling him, for example, [head of the parliament’s committee on finances and tax and customs policy Daniil] Getmantsev and others but by doing so they are digging his political grave," the former aide said.

The former official added that one problem that may emerge in Ukraine in the future is the need to change the structure of the country’s economy due to its broken relations with Russia.

Last week, Arestovich said that Ukraine needed a president who can fight corruption and Zelensky has failed in that respect.
