Four people killed, eight injured in Louisville shooting — police

Among the injured are two police officers, one of whom is currently in surgery

NEW YORK, April 10. /TASS/. Four people were victims of Monday's shooting in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, in the United States, with eight injured and the assailant dead, Louisville Metro Police official Paul Humphrey said at a news conference.

According to the police spokesman, at least four people died during a shooting at Old National Bank in Louisville, as well as the shooter himself, and at least eight others were injured. They were transported to a hospital, with two of the victims now in critical condition.

Humphrey added that the shooting took place at an Old National bank branch. The police believed that "lone gunman" had a "connection to the bank", however, they still had to determine whether the shooter was a current or former employee. The police were also trying to determine whether the shooter died from gunfire or a self-inflicted wound.

The incident happened around 08:30 local time (15:30 Moscow time). Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene three minutes after receiving the call. Among the injured are two police officers, one of whom is currently in surgery.

US President Joe Biden was informed of the shooting. "Once again, our nation mourns after a senseless act of gun violence - Jill [Biden] and I pray for the lives lost and impacted by today's shooting. Too many Americans are paying for the price of inaction with their lives," the US president said.

The FSB investigators continue to work at the scene.
