BRUSSELS, February 13. /TASS/. NATO considers it necessary to make the Ukrainian armed forces even stronger after the current conflict will end and fully shift it to NATO standards, the alliance’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday at a news conference in Brussels.

When this conflict "ends in one way or another we should ensure that Ukraine is able to deter and defend itself," he said. "What we need now is that we are able to strengthen Ukraine with support, with training and NATO also looks into a more long-term transition of the Ukrainian armed forces from Soviet-era doctrines and equipment <…> to modern NATO capabilities that are interoperable with NATO allies."

"That’s to enable them to have even stronger armed forces after some kind of peace arrangement that may be agreed" to prevent another big attack, he continued.

One of the goals of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine is to demilitarize that country. The Russian leadership has stated multiple times that all goals of the operation will be achieved.
