No hostilities underway in Mariupol, life is returning to normal - mayor

MARIUPOL, April 24. /TASS/. The authorities of Mariupol say no hostilities are afoot in the city’s residential areas. Life is gradually returning to normal.

"There are no military operations in the city. The locals may start putting their yards in order and replacing broken windows. Peaceful life is returning to the city," Mayor Konstantin Ivashchenko told TASS on Sunday.

The leader of the Donetsk Republic, Denis Pushilin, on April 6 appointed Mariupol’s new mayor. The man, Konstantin Ivashchenko, is a former member of the Mariupol city council from the Ukrainian party Opposition Platform - For Life and CEO of the engineering plant Azovmash.
