Senior Russian diplomat, UN envoy hash over Syria

MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/. Russian Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen have had a phone call Wednesday to discuss the current situation in Syria.

"The situation in Syria was substantively discussed with the emphasis placed on the need to move forward a complex settlement of the Syrian crisis based on the UN Security Council Resolution 2254," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. "A package of issues relating to the preparation of the upcoming meeting of the Constitutional Committee in Geneva and another international meeting of the Astana peace talks on Syria was also reviewed.".
