KAZAN, August 1. /TASS/. Russia’s synchronised swimmers won a gold medal in free combinations on Saturday at the 2015 FINA World Championships underway in the Russian Tatarstan republic’s capital of Kazan.

The female team, embracing Vlada Chigireva, Svetlana Kolesnichenko, Alexandra Patskevich, Elena Prokofyeva, Alla Shishkina, Maria Shurochkina, Anzhelika Timanina, Gelena Topilina, Liliia Nizamova and Mikhaela Kalancha, scored 98.300.

China’s team packed a silver medal, scoring 96.200 points, and Japan’s synchronised swimmers claimed bronze, scoring 93.800.

The free combination was the last competition in synchronised swimming at the Aquatics World Championships. Russian synchronised swimmers bagged eight gold medals out of nine and one silver medal.

Thus, Russia has topped the medals table, winning eight gold, three silver and one bronze medals. China is on the tails with seven gold, eight silver and three bronze medals. The United States is ranked third in the medal standings, with three gold, two silver and one bronze medals.

The 2015 FINA (the International Swimming Federation) World Championships is underway in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, between July 24 and August 9 bringing together some 2,400 athletes from over 190 countries.
