MOSCOW, May 9. /TASS/. Moscow staged a grandiose fireworks display celebrating the 71st anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany at 10.00 p.m. Moscow Standard Time (7.00 p.m. GMT) on Monday.
During the ten-minute display, military crews conducted 30 salvos from 18 artillery mounts, rocketing up into the sky that was illuminated by powerful spotlights, in 36 locations in the Russian capital.
The largest number of saluting guns was installed on Poklonnaya Hill which hosts the memorial to World War II and on Vorobyovy (Sparrow) Hills, the highest geographical point in Moscow's southwest.
Also, thousands of residents and guests of the city came to the banks of the Moskva River and its bridges.
