Kremlin does not rule out possibility of unblocking Instagram in Russia

If the company complies with the Russian laws, possibilities for interaction will open up, Dmitry Peskov noted

MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov does not rule out that at some point Instagram (banned in the Russian Federation; owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation) in Russia may be unblocked.

"Honestly, I would not rule it out," Peskov told reporters.

"They (Meta, recognized as extremist in Russia - TASS) refused to remove extremist materials, they refused to remove materials that contradict our laws, and they refused to discuss this for several years," he added.

Peskov also recalled that the company had refused to open an office in Russia for several years, which was required of it under the Localization Law. "If you comply with the laws of the Russian Federation, of course, possibilities for interaction open up," Peskov concluded.
