MOSCOW, April 21. /TASS/. Police have detained a 28-year-old resident of the Kostroma Region in the Moscow Region on suspicion of setting fire to a car that was emblazoned with symbols in support of the special military operation in Ukraine, Russian Interior Ministry’s Spokeswoman Irina Volk told TASS.
"It’s tentatively established that the perpetrator and his acquaintance had premeditated the illegal actions," she said. "At night, in one of the yards, they found a parked car that was emblazoned with symbols in support of the special military operation of the Russian armed forces."
"Having doused the car with gasoline, the defendant set fire to it, while his friend made a video recording of what was happening," she continued. "The men then fled."
According to Volk, the car was gutted by fire and the damage amounts to more than 1 million rubles. A criminal case was initiated (under Articles 167 and 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
"As a result of a search, the police identified the suspect and detained him," the spokeswoman said. "During a search of the apartment that he rented, literature promoting the ideology of Nazism was found and confiscated."
The suspect has been arrested. A search for his accomplice is underway.
