Authorities plan to inoculate 68.6 mln Russians against COVID-19

The fugure may be adjusted as the pandemic develops, according to the deputy prime minister

MOSCOW, January 18. /TASS/. It is planned to vaccinate some 68.6 million Russians against the novel coronavirus infection, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova said on Monday.

"The required level of vaccination has been determined by scientists: minus those who have had the infection and children under 18, it should be 60% of Russia’s population, or 68.6 million people," she said, adding that the figure may be adjusted as the epidemic continues to develop.

To date, 3,591,066 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Russia, with 2,978,764 patients having recovered from the disease. Russia’s latest data indicates 66,037 fatalities nationwide. Earlier, the Russian government set up an Internet hotline to keep the public updated on the coronavirus situation.
