Russian cosmonauts install European Robotic Arm control panel during spacewalk

The cosmonauts now laying a cable from the EMMI to ERA’s starting base point

ISS, April 18. /TASS/. Cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev and Denis Matveyev have installed a control panel for the European robotic arm during a spacewalk.

"The cosmonauts have installed the EMMI control panel for the ERA manipulator on the workstation adapter," Roscosmos said on Twitter. "They are now laying a cable from the EMMI to ERA’s starting base point."

Artemyev, who is also a TASS special correspondent, checked the performance of the panel, Roscosmos said. "Everything is connected and works as planned," it said.

Artemyev and Matveyev are now on a spacewalk as part of preparing the robotic arm for operating on the Russian segment of the orbital outpost. The extravehicular activity is planned to last for about 6 hours and 38 minutes.

For Artemyev, who is wearing the Orlan-MKS No. 5 spacesuit with red stripes, it’s the fourth spacewalk in his career. For Matveyev, who is wearing the Orlan-MKS No. 4 spacesuit with blue stripes, it’s the first spacewalk.
