All Russians interested in coronavirus vaccination may be inoculated by June - RDIF chief

According to Russian Direct Investment Fund Chief Executive Officer Kirill Dmitriev, mass vaccination in the United States and Europe will be completed in September or October

MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. Russia is the only country where all those interested in coronavirus vaccination will have a chance to get inoculated by June, Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Chief Executive Officer Kirill Dmitriev told Sergey Brilev’s news show on Rossiya-1 on Saturday.

"The focus is definitely on vaccinating Russians. Russia is in fact the only country in the world that is capable of vaccinating all the citizens who wish to be inoculated," Dmitriev pointed out. According to him, similar processes in the United States and Europe will be completed in September or October. "The focus is on Russia. Very small amounts [of the vaccine] are being delivered to foreign markets. We continue work to launch [new production facilities] and provide the vaccine to other countries from the RDIF’s foreign facilities," he added.

The Lancet medical journal earlier published the interim results from phase 3 trials of the Sputnik V vaccine. Its effectiveness was reported at 91.6% and at 91.8% in volunteers over the age of 60. As many as 98% of volunteers developed anti-bodies and 100% developed cellular immunity.
