MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. Russia is ready to help North Korea and the United States establish direct dialogue on security guarantees for Pyongyang, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday after his talks with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting.
"We spoke about the situation on the Korean Peninsula," he said. "Our position on this matter is unchanged. We are confident that it the vicious spiral of confrontation and provocations must be stopped."
"We know that North Korea wants first of all to speak with the United States about its security guarantees. We are ready to support it. We are ready to help promote such talks," he stressed.
According to the Russian top diplomat, the Russian side explained its vision of the implementation of the Russian-Chinese roadmap of easing tensions and creating conditions to begin a negotiating process.
