MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. The call by US leader Donald Trump for a change in the Kiev leadership will resonate in Ukrainian society, said First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin.
"Trump’s call to change the leader of the Kiev regime will undoubtedly hit a sensitive nerve in Ukrainian society. I am convinced that kitchen discussions about [Vladimir] Zelensky, his personality, and the way he conducts state affairs in Ukraine have long touched on this topic," Karasin wrote on Telegram.
He added that so far, the issue of replacing Zelensky has not been a visible focus of public discussion among Ukrainians. Karasin also linked Trump’s statements to Zelensky’s recent call to British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, because "they know how to handle such situations there."
Earlier, Trump said it was time for Ukraine to change its president, adding that he would advise Ukraine to find a leader who is capable of making a deal.
