MOSCOW, August 4. /TASS/. Key heights taken by Russian troops in Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) will enable them to develop a large-scale offensive with an envelopment from various directions in the Donbass region, military expert Vitaly Kiselyov said on Monday.
"Chasov Yar is a key height point in terms of adjusting observation and conducting combat operations. To all appearances, we will be outflanking from the south and the north, gradually puncturing the enemy forces and edging them out, all the more so as we now hold an advantageous height relative to all other settlements," the expert said during a live broadcast on the Soloviev Live television channel.
Russian troops are employing a large number of drones whose operators are successfully interacting with multiple launch rocket system teams, tank crews and infantry, he added.
"This indicates that systematic preparations are underway at training grounds, preparations that are ongoing every hour and every day and this yields very good results and a high effect for the conduct of combat operations and the advance," the expert stressed.
Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on July 31 that its Battlegroup South had liberated the town of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic in an offensive in the Kramatorsk-Druzhkovka area. Chasov Yar had been one of the most fortified areas of the Ukrainian army in the Donbass region due to the complex landscape and specifics of its urban layout and infrastructure.
