Moscow working to normalize relations between Baku, Yerevan — Putin

The Russian president also highlighted the productive discussions between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan at the BRICS Summit held in Kazan in October 2024

MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Russia is making every effort to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and to promote the signing of a peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a ceremony for presenting credentials on Tuesday.

"We are fostering our cooperation with Armenia and Azerbaijan in this context. We have made every effort to normalize Azerbaijani-Armenian relations and to ensure lasting peace in the South Caucasus, and we continue to do so. Russia will continue to assist in working on a peace treaty, the delimitation of state borders, and the re-engagement of cooperation in the economic and transport sectors. In doing so, we will adhere to the series of well-known 2020-2022 high-level trilateral agreements," Putin stated.

The Russian president also highlighted the productive discussions between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan at the BRICS Summit held in Kazan in October 2024. "I am pleased to note that the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia chose the BRICS Summit in Kazan as a platform to engage in an important discussion on key issues related to achieving durable peace and fostering inter-ethnic harmony in the region," Putin emphasized.
