Western countries' electoral systems degenerating, CEC chief believes

Ella Pamfilova pointed out that the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights was a "pseudo-democratic organization" controlled by the West and functioning to form "a certain public opinion, pseudo-analytical reports" on the basis of which to act as an "electoral cudgel"

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. Electoral processes in Western countries are getting worse, Ella Pamfilova, Chairperson of the Russian Central Election Commission, said at the Russia exhibition and forum.

"A lot of negative processes are going on in the West. I believe, deep down in my core, there is a process of degradation there, a process of degradation of all electoral processes in general. This is a situation when they need to divert attention away from themselves, so that they don't notice the baton in their democratic Western eye, let's take all the specks out of the eyes of the Russian [electoral] system, dump everything from the sick head to the healthy one, divert attention," Pamfilova said.

She added that the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) is a "pseudo-democratic organization" controlled by the West and functioning to form "a certain public opinion, pseudo-analytical reports" on the basis of which to act as an "electoral cudgel."
