No mention of guarantees in Kiev’s treaties with Berlin, London, Paris — MFA

"Within these agreements, Berlin is going to provide Kiev with €7 billion in military aid, as well as €6 billion in upcoming years," Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Kiev’s agreements with Berlin, London and Paris are being called "security guarantees," but there is not a single word about any kind of guarantees in any of these three documents, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a commentary, published on the department’s website.

"Last week, [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky, while touring European capitals with his hand out as always, signed ‘agreements on security cooperation’ with Germany and France, similar to the one signed this January between Kiev and London. Within these agreements, Berlin is going to provide Kiev with €7 billion in military aid, as well as €6 billion in upcoming years. Paris, in turn, will allocate €3 billion this year," the diplomat pointed out.

"In Ukraine, they are calling these agreements ‘security guarantees,’ although no ‘guarantees’ were mentioned in any of the three documents," Zakharova emphasized. "They just describe the measures that are already being taken. No one is promising Kiev anything more than that," she added.

The diplomat pointed out that the price of Western "guarantees" to Ukraine is well known. "In February 2014, Berlin, Paris and Warsaw ‘guaranteed’ the fulfillment of the agreement between Viktor Yanukovych and the opposition, but did nothing to implement it. In February 2015, Germany and France took on the role of ‘guarantors’ of the Minsk Package of Measures, which they themselves buried together with Kiev, deceiving the entire international community. But it was a document approved by the UN Security Council resolution that became an integral part of international law," she added.

Zakharova emphasized that "today, once again dangling the ‘carrot’ in front of the Kiev regime, Westerners are after only one thing - to turn Ukraine into a powerless colony and use it as a tool against Russia." "Their 'guarantees' are worthless," she concluded.
