MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. The idea to fly F-16 missions in Ukraine from the territory of NATO member countries is dangerous, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Channel One television.
"There is serious talk about F-16 jets. And in the course of these conversations it turns out that there are no airfields in Ukraine that would be fit to service these aircraft, both in terms of the quality of the runways and the equipment that is needed to service [the jets] after flights," he said in an interview with the Big Game program. "And there's talk that it could probably be done on the territory of the NATO countries that neighbor Ukraine. It's a dangerous idea."
According to the minister, if the US and the UK "want to sit it out again across their expanses of water, then they should realize that there are some boundaries that cannot be crossed. The qualitative increase of lethal weapons that are being transferred to Ukraine is not going unnoticed," Lavrov said.
