MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterpart from Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo will hold talks today in a working breakfast format, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
The Kremlin official reiterated that that the talks between Russia and Equatorial Guinea will be held in Moscow today. "Then, the two presidents, Putin and Mbasogo, will continue their interaction one-on-one over a working breakfast," he said.
Peskov noted that Russia continues working on the African continent developing and implementing the agreements reached during the second Russia-Africa summit this past summer.
Ties between Russia, Equatorial Guinea
Equatorial Guinea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Francophone Affairs told TASS earlier that the country is interested in expanding its partnership with Russia, including within the BRICS framework.
It noted that ties between the two countries have a long history, being marked by special mutual respect and serving the interests of both nations. Cooperation between Russia and Equatorial Guinea received a fresh impetus four years ago when regular Russia-Africa summits began. During the most recent one in St. Petersburg, delegates from Equatorial Guinea held a number of meetings with Russian oil-and-gas and mining companies.
Additionally, the upcoming opening of the Russian Embassy in the African country should also facilitate the rapid expansion of cooperation between Russia and Equatorial Guinea.
