Russian Airborne Force commander to head Dnepr battlegroup in Ukraine operation — source

MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. Russian Airborne Force Commander, Deputy Commander of the Joint Group of Forces Colonel-General Mikhail Teplinsky has been appointed chief of the Dnepr Battlegroup in the zone of the special military operation in Ukraine, a source in defense circles told TASS on Monday.

Earlier, Colonel-General Oleg Makarevich commanded the Dnepr Battlegroup in the Kherson area.

"Teplinsky has been appointed as commander of the Dnepr Battlegroup," the source said.

Teplinsky was born in January 1969 in the settlement of Mospino in the Donetsk Region of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1991, he graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Force Command School. By the Russian president’s decree of March 1, 1995, Senior Lieutenant Teplinsky was conferred the title of the Hero of Russia for the courage and heroism displayed in fulfilling a special objective in restoring constitutional order on the territory of the Chechen Republic.

Teplinsky is also decorated with the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland 4th Grade (with Swords)," the Kutuzov and Courage Orders, the medals of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland 1st and 2nd Grades (with Swords)," "For Valor" and other awards of the Defense Ministry of Russia.
